2nd February 2026, Singapore<\/strong> \u2013 The Automobile Association of Singapore (AA Singapore) has introduced RoadPlus+, a new overseas car rental excess insurance solution, which is distributed by licensed insurance broker Trade Risk Solutions and underwritten by ECICS, to help Singapore motorists better manage the financial risks associated with renting vehicles overseas.<\/p>\n

RoadPlus+ provides reimbursement for excess charges and related fees imposed by overseas car rental companies following damage, theft, or vandalism of a rental vehicle. The product forms part of AA Singapore\u2019s expanding portfolio of mobility and travel-related services and is designed specifically for holders of a valid Singapore Driving Licence travelling internationally. The solution offers exclusive coverage before departure and local support upon return to Singapore.<\/p>\n

\u201cMobility today extends well beyond vehicle ownership<\/em>,\u201d said Mr Lee Wai Mun, Chief Executive Officer of AA Singapore. \u201cRoadPlus+ protects drivers from having to pay out-of-pocket excess charges beyond basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW).<\/em><\/p>\n

As international travel rebounds and car rental costs rise globally, travellers are increasingly exposed to high excess charges and exclusions not covered by standard rental insurance. While rental companies typically offer basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or similar coverage, such policies often come with high deductibles and exclusions. RoadPlus+ is structured to complement basic CDW by addressing this gap through a more predictable and cost-efficient supplementary solution. In contrast, additional insurance offered at rental counters may be costly and subject to varying terms and conditions.<\/p>\n

As Singapore\u2019s first annual overseas car rental excess insurance, RoadPlus+ cover excess charges arising from damage to the rental vehicle theft and vandalism, including underbody damage and wheel or tyre damage. Coverage extensions also include towing and roadside assistance, administration fees, relocation or drop-off fees, and loss of use of charges during repair.<\/p>\n

AA Singapore, in collaboration with insurance broker Trade Risk Solutions, offers unmatched convenient policy access and personalised claims assistance upon return, supported by a dedicated local team to ensure timely and efficient claims handling.<\/p>\n

RoadPlus+ is offered on a trip-based pricing model for both Asia-Pacific and worldwide travel, with coverage options ranging from short-term trips to extended travel periods. This structure allows travellers and organisations to budget more accurately, compared to daily insurance add-ons sold at rental counters. Annual premium starts from $198.<\/p>\n

The launch of RoadPlus+ reflects AA Singapore\u2019s broader strategy to expand beyond traditional roadside assistance into travel risk management and mobility-related insurance solutions.<\/p>\n
