17 March 2018, Singapore<\/em>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Automobile Association of Singapore (AA Singapore) organises the Overseas Safe Driving Forum \u201cOne Life Lost is One Too Many\u201d on Saturday, 17 March 2018 at Suntec Convention\u00a0and Exhibition Centre, Summit 1.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Automobile Association of Singapore has always been at the forefront to advocate road safety in campaigns and outreach programmes and partnering the local and overseas authorities to promote safe driving. We have been actively organising road safety campaigns such as the safe driving conferences and forums, as well as publishing safety materials for distribution to AA members and the motoring public.<\/p>\n

In recent months, there have been several reports of road fatalities while Singaporeans were driving overseas. Some of these accidents could have possibly been avoided if the drivers were better prepared and informed. AA Singapore recognises the need to create better awareness among our members and the public, and equip them with the knowledge to be better prepared when driving locally and overseas. In view of the recent accidents concerning Singaporeans while driving overseas, we will be organising the Overseas Safe Driving Forum 2018 on 17 March 2018.<\/p>\n

The Overseas Safe Driving Forum provides a platform for participants to better understand the importance of pre-trip preparations and gain knowledge on overseas safe driving tips through sharing sessions with overseas road safety experts.<\/p>\n

As an affiliated club to Federation Internationale de l\u2019Automobile (FIA,) AA Singapore has established an extensive network with the various Automobile Associations and motoring clubs worldwide. The Association is able to provide our AA members and the motoring public with relevant information through the affiliated associations and clubs when driving overseas in unfamiliar countries and provide necessary assistance. AA Singapore, together with MIROS, JKJR Malaysia & AA Malaysia, will also present the list of 30 blackspot locations in Malaysia as reference guide.<\/p>\n

\u201cAA Singapore is constantly engaging the public and raising awareness for the safety of all road users. Today, we are honoured to have overseas road safety speakers and Autoventure veteran to share with us their expertise and driving experience.\u201d said Mr Bernard Tay, President of AA Singapore.<\/p>\n

AA Singapore will also launch an Aide Memoir where participants are able to refer to useful information on the Association\u2019s website<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough the half day conference, we hope participants can be better equipped with practical tips and knowledge and play a part to make the global roads safer for ourselves, our loved ones and especially for the vulnerable road users, such as the young and the old. Road trip accidents can be prevented if drivers are better prepared before embarking on a journey and understand the different culture and driving habits.\u201d said Mr Bernard Tay.<\/p>\n
