6 September 2025, Saturday – In celebration of Singapore’s 60th Anniversary, the Automobile Association of Singapore (AAS) is equipping Singaporeans with the knowledge to travel and drive safely abroad.
The Overseas Safe Driving Forum will be held on:
Date : 6 September 2025, Saturday
Venue : Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands Cassia Junior Ballroom, Level 3
Time : 12pm – 5pm
The forum focuses on promoting safer mobility for Singaporeans travelling abroad. Timely ahead of the year-end travel season, it builds on the momentum of the 2023 forum while introducing fresh topics and perspectives. Participants can expect practical, expert-backed advice for safer self-drive holidays, including guidance on medical readiness and first-hand travel insights from experienced travellers.
From Japan’s snowy mountain passes to Spain’s high-speed expressways, overseas driving offers adventure but also hidden risks. Fatigue, unfamiliar road rules, language barriers, and different driving cultures can quickly turn a dream holiday into a dangerous experience. Similarly, road safety is crucial around schools, where children are especially vulnerable due to their smaller size, unpredictable behavior, and limited awareness of traffic hazards. Whether you’re driving in a foreign country or navigating your local school zone, it’s essential to stay alert and prioritize safety for everyone on the road.
International perspectives will be shared by experts from:
*FIA Foundation – Global road safety initiatives and advocacy
*Real Automóvil Club de España (RACE) & International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) – Driving responsibly across borders
*Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) – Seasonal driving challenges in Japan
*Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) – Regional safety priorities
*The Royal Automobile Association of Thailand (RAAT) – Preparing for driving in Thailand
Other programme highlights:
• Avoiding Disaster behind the wheel – Distracted & Fatigue Driving
• Orthopaedic & Medical Advice – Injury Prevention & Road Trip Readiness for Travellers
• Panel Discussion – Cultural differences in road behaviour and how Singaporeans can adapt abroad
• Networking & Media Access – Interview opportunities with AAS and international experts
The Overseas Safe Driving Forum is open for registration to AA Members and the general public. More information on the Overseas Safe Driving Forum 2025 can be found at www.aas.com.sg/sg60
